1 dead, 2 hospitalized in DeLand house fire, officials say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A house fire left one person dead and two others injured Friday morning, according to officials.

Volusia County Fire Rescue and the City of DeLand Fire Department responded to the fire at Flamingo Road and Central Parkway early Friday morning. One person escaped the home on their own, while firefighters entered the residence and pulled out two additional individuals as crews worked to bring the fire under control, VCFR said.

All three were transported to a hospital. Two individuals suffered burn injuries and are currently receiving medical care. Their conditions were not immediately available. The third individual was pronounced deceased at the hospital, officials said.

One burn victim was airlifted by helicopter. Crews successfully extinguished the fire, and its cause remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
