Man shot to death in Orange County identified

Neighbors say they heard about 9 shots

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was shot to death early Wednesday in an Orange County neighborhood, according to deputies.

Orange County deputies said Dexter Johnson, 26, of Orlando, died in the shooting, which was reported around 3:30 a.m. in the 4600 block of Carter Street, west of South Ivey Lane.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said deputies found a man in the street suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead by Orlando Fire Rescue, deputies said.

The man's name has not been released.

Neighbors said they heard about nine gunshots.

"It's just sad," neighbor Charlotte Alexander said. "It's really sad to see our young gentlemen getting killed like this out here."

There's no information about the shooter.

A death investigation is underway.
