Orlando ranked No. 8 on the list of "10 Most Compassionate Cities" of 2016. Our neighbors to the south, Miami, came in at No. 10.

The ranking is based on total donations per 100,000 households to personal and charitable causes via crowdfunding.

"Many successful campaigns are organized by members of a closely knit community," said Dan Saper, president of YouCaring. "A campaign's location is extremely important to its success."

This year, Baton Rouge took home the top spot, while Atlanta and Salt Lake City rounded out the top three.

Orlando went down five rankings this year, having come in at No. 3 in 2015.
