Shooting victim stops at 7-Eleven for help, DeLand police say

Authorities ID man as Noel Pease

DeLAND, Fla. – A man who was shot at in the parking lot of his DeLand apartment complex tried to drive to the hospital but had to stop for help along the way, police said.

DeLand police on Wednesday identified the victim as Noel Pease, 39, of Deltona.

Police responded to the shooting at Applewood Apartments on East New Hampshire Avenue at 4:03 p.m. Tuesday.

Pease was shot and then tried to drive to the hospital but stopped at 7-Eleven convenience store in downtown DeLand to call for help, officials said.

Pease was shot in the arm during a drug deal, police said. He's in stable condition.

Police said they are looking for the shooter.

An investigation is ongoing.
