Man fatally shot, woman hit by car in Pine Hills incident, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was fatally shot and a woman was hit by a car he was driving was hospitalized after an incident in the Pine Hills area Saturday afternoon, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said shots were reportedly fired around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Someone shot a man inside a vehicle that was parked at the Kwik Stop near the intersection of Silver Star Road and Powers Drive in Pine Hills. Deputies said that man put his car in reverse and drove it into a parking lot across the street, hitting a woman who was putting groceries in her car.

The man in the vehicle was pronounced dead, deputies said. The woman was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Deputies said two people were detained for questioning.

Several businesses in the shopping plaza where the crash happened had to close so deputies could investigate.
