He told KPRC his quest began while talking to friends about video games. One of his friends sarcastically suggested he try to beat every game in one console.

Kusielczuk accepted the challenge. He said he chose the NES in part because it was the first video game console he had during his childhood, so it had a deep sentimental value to him.

Kusielczuk began playing on May 28, 2014, calling the challenge "NESMania".

On Sunday, he plans to play "Super Mario Brothers 3," the final game in his list of 714 NES games.

Kusielczuk will play the game before a live internet audience on his Twitch page.
