'Vampire cult' killer resentencing postponed, officials say

Howard Scott Anderson serving life sentence

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A man serving a life sentence for his role in the death of a couple who were found beaten to death in Eustis in 1996 will have to wait to be re-sentenced. He was originally going to find out if his sentence would be reduced on Monday.

Howard Scott Anderson is currently serving a life sentence, but he was 16 at the time of the murders, and he was supposed to go before a judge on Monday for re-sentencing.

However, his re-sentencing has been postponed.

Anderson's sentence was later ruled unconstitutional after a 2012 U.S. Supreme Court ruling. The ruling stated that sentencing juveniles to life in prison violated the Eighth Amendment.

in 2016, Rod Ferrell spoke with Crime Watch Daily on News 6. The case got national attention because Ferrell told investigators he believed he was a vampire and started a cult.
