Vassas is in serious condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Grace Barnes, 58, who was driving the Nissan SUV, is in serious condition at ORMC and Michael Sabia, 52, who was driving the Ford SUV, was not injured, according to a news release.
The second incident happened at 10:15 a.m. near mile marker 50 in Brevard County.
Thomas Michael Murray, 38, left the road in his 2003 Jeep, which caused it to flip. Murray, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Passenger Lyvonda Mason, 36, is in serious condition at Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge.
