Fatal crash investigation in Orange County turns into deadly shooting case
PINE HILLS, Fla. A man found lying in the middle of an Orange County road died from gunshot wounds after the case was initially investigated as a fatal crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The man was discovered lying in the road around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday near Woodwind and Merriewood drives in Pine Hills. The FHP then investigated and it was determined that the man had been shot, officials said. Details about the man, including his name, or who shot him have not been released. Florida woman, 69, killed in crash while her car was stopped in middle of I-75
SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. A 69-year-old Florida woman was killed Sunday night in a crash on I-75 in Sumter County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal crash was reported around 9:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 326. The FHP said the womans sedan was stopped in the center lane without its lights on when a car driven by a 57-year-old man rear-ended her vehicle. The Ellenton woman was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the FHP.
16-year-old driver killed, second teen injured in fiery Marion County crash

A 16-year-old driver was killed and a 17-year-old passenger was critically injured late Saturday in a crash in Marion County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal crash happened along Southwest 108th Street in Dunnellon. Troopers say the driver was speeding, lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, causing the car to burst into flames. The teen passenger was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, the FHP said. The victims names have not been released.
Officer, woman injured in Daytona Beach crash, police say
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. An officer suffered minor injuries and a woman suffered a broken rib when she failed to yield to a right of way, causing a crash with the officers patrol car, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department. The officer was responding to a low-priority call for service Thursday just before 9 p.m., traveling down Mason Avenue when a vehicle failed to yield to the officers right of way at the intersection of Jimmy Ann Drive. The at-fault car, driven by Bessie Thomas, drove in front of the officers patrol car, causing a crash, a report stated. The officer suffered scrapes and cuts while Thomas suffered a broken rib. A report said the Florida Highway Patrol would conduct the investigation into the crash due to its severity.
Driver seriously injured in Ocala crash involving pickup truck
OCALA, Fla. A driver is seriously injured after a crash involving a pickup truck in Ocala, according to officials. Ocala Fire Rescue crews said they were called to the scene of the crash near the intersection of West Silver Springs Boulevard and North Pine Avenue around 12:45 p.m. Thursday. Crews with the Ocala Fire Rescue Department, along with help from Marion County Fire Rescue and the Ocala Police Department, had to remove the driver from the passengers side of a sedan involved in the crash after they became trapped. The driver, whose name has not been released, was rushed to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert, officials said. The occupants of the pickup truck were not treated for any injuries, crews said.

Man killed in fiery 3-vehicle crash on I-95
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. A driver died after he was involved in a crash with two other vehicles, causing his SUV to catch fire, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a 40-year-old Rockledge man was driving an SUV on Interstate 95 near mile marker 192 around 10 p.m. Sunday when he failed to slow down, causing the front of his SUV to hit the rear of a van. The SUV briefly caught fire as a result of the crashes. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, according to the report. The 29-year-old Port Orange man driving the van and the 19-year-old Cocoa woman driving the sedan were not injured.
