VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Wildfires sprang up on Friday evening, prompting a warning from Volusia County Professional Firefighters Association.
In a release, fire officials announced that crews were working the wildfires off Maytown Road.

While there’s no danger to any of the structures, fire officials cautioned that there is heavy smoke nearby.
“Please only call 911 if you see active flames,” the release reads. “Windy conditions are pushing smoke throughout the area.”
Shortly before 7 p.m., the sheriff’s office also issued a warning about the fires, explaining that the two brush fires in the Maytown area were each estimated at 250 acres.
“Residents in and around the Maytown area may see smoke and detect the odor as firefighters continue suppression efforts,” the warning states.
Fire officials also warned to be cautious of crews and fire apparatus working in the area.
