ORLANDO, Fla. – It’s Click It or Ticket week across Florida, and today on Trooper Steve on Patrol, we turned Results-1 into a real-world demonstration vehicle to explain exactly why restraints matter so much.
From the driver’s seat to the rear passenger seats, we walked through who is legally required to wear a seatbelt, who can receive citations, and what responsibilities drivers have before ever putting that vehicle into drive.
One of the biggest misconceptions we talked about is that just because someone may legally not be required to wear a seatbelt in certain seating positions doesn’t mean it’s safe. During a crash, an unrestrained passenger can become a danger not only to themselves, but to everyone else inside the vehicle.
We also focused on the importance of drivers making sure every passenger — especially children and younger riders — is properly secured before heading down the road. It only takes seconds to buckle up, but that simple step can make a life-saving difference in a crash.
Whether you’re sitting in the front seat, backseat, or anywhere in between, restraints matter. Check out today’s Trooper Steve on Patrol as we break down Florida’s seatbelt responsibilities seat by seat and explain why “Click It or Ticket” is about much more than just avoiding a citation.
