Driver killed after car hits sign support pole on I-4 in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla – A crash on Interstate 4 in Volusia County blocked westbound lanes Saturday afternoon and left one person dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the crash happened on westbound I-4 west of Orange Camp Road near mile marker 115.

Troopers said the driver of a 2021 Kia Soul ran off the right side of the roadway for an unknown reason and hit a support pole for a travel sign.

The driver, a 24-year-old woman from Bradenton, was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.

The crash remained under investigation.
