MAITLAND, Fla. – A Maitland road is reopening after a sinkhole shut down the area for almost two months.
The City of Maitland says crews were expected to remove the traffic barriers on North Wymore Road Thursday afternoon.
The large sinkhole swallowed up a portion of Wymore between Hope Road and Brightwater Circle on May 15.
It took weeks to get the hole stabilized and then filled. Engineers filled deep drilled holes with concrete to add extra support.
Orange County Public Works then repaved about 1,100 feet of roadway to cover the sinkhole as well as other weathered areas of asphalt.
