Rain chances slowly increasing into the holiday weekend

Numerous shower and thunderstorms expected by the Fourth.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Drier air in our atmosphere, thanks in part to Saharan Dust, has resulted in a sharp decline in shower chances Thursday afternoon. Rain chances into this evening will remain spotty and fall off after sunset tonight. Low temperatures remain above average thanks to our onshore flow, only dropping down into the upper 70s under partly cloudy skies.

Scattered storms expected mainly south and east of I-4.

Rain chances start to increase Friday and into the holiday weekend as Saharan Dust moves out and an influx of moisture moves in from the south. The best chance for rain Friday afternoon will be south and east of I-4 with high temperatures hitting the low 90s and heat indices in the 100-105ºF range.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms expected Fourth of July afternoon.

Rain chances increase and spill northward over the weekend as the moisture continues to lift in from the south. Expect widespread, sea breeze driven, showers and thunderstorms for your Fourth of July afternoon. Since they are sea breeze driven, once the sun sets these storms will fizzle out. Shower chances are highest early afternoon through 7-8pm.

Storm chances decrease just in time for fireworks displays.

Rain chances drastically lower for the fireworks displays. Extremely humid conditions will be felt throughout the evening thanks to the storms earlier in the day.
