SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Nearly a year after a crash that left a man dead, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest.
Amanda Babcock, 37, of Geneva, was taken into custody on Thursday.

According to an arrest report, Babcock was driving recklessly and cutting into oncoming traffic on State Road 46 when she crashed into a van and an SUV on June 7, 2025. Edward Rathman, a passenger in the SUV, was killed, and three others were injured.
Babcock was charged with four counts: vehicular homicide, reckless driving causing serious injury, and two counts of reckless driving with damage to a person.
At a first appearance hearing on Friday, a judge ordered Babcock to wear a GPS monitor as a condition of release. She is also prohibited from contacting three individuals identified in court records.
Babcock has since posted bond, and an arraignment is scheduled for July 14.
