Vandals splatter paint on homes, cars in Avalon Park

Video captures 2 people throwing colored paint onto door

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – Surveillance video caught two people walking straight up to the front door of a home in Avalon Park.

Once on the porch, they threw colored paint onto the door and ran off.

"It is disheartening to see that something like that, these kids, for whatever reason they did what they did, just to damage property," Eric Reed said.

Reed said he woke up to cars up and down Antlia Drive splattered with paint. His neighbor's front door was vandalized.

Reed said the video shows "two guys that certainly didn't care about other people's property. Pretty brazen if you ask me, going right up to the door, throwing paint on it."

One picture shows another neighbor's patio swing, this time, with dots of orange.

Will Hidalgo, 13, said he had to scrub down his parents' car after they walked out to find paint all over it.

"It's so shocking how someone would want to do that to people's front doors and belongings and cars. We scrubbed real hard, and we got some soap and we tried to scratch it off," Will said.

Will said they look like kids, and if they are, they should know better.

"Pretty brave of them to come so close and there's security cameras, so we know you're out there," Will said.

One neighbor said even though most of the paint came off, their door is ruined.

"They should be more respectful of other people's property. Total disregard. That's vandalism," she said. "They should be made responsible for (the crime), if and when they get caught."

Some neighbors believe the two caught on camera are teenagers and reported it to police. Others just hope it doesn't happen again.
