Report: Markeith Loyd sent text message to Sade Dixon after shooting

Loyd charged with murder in deaths of Dixon, Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton

ORLANDO, Fla. – New documents are providing insight into the moments after the death of a pregnant woman in Orange County.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that it has obtained text messages sent by Markeith Loyd to his ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, moments after shooting her and her unborn baby. Dixon and the baby died in the shooting.

In the texts, Loyd reportedly said, "Don't know if you go make it, hope you don't."

Records show that he texted her again hours later, saying, "You caused this," and blamed Dixon's brother for intervening. Dixon's brother was also shot.

The Sentinel also reported that investigators found a 10-page letter inside a home on Lascott Lane where police found Loyd hiding the night of Jan. 17.

Investigators said the letter provided a detailed account of why Loyd shot Dixon. The letter also reportedly refers to the death of Dixon's unborn child as an "unintended consequence."

Loyd is charges with murder in the death of Dixon and Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton, who was shot outside a Walmart in Orlando while trying to detain Loyd.

Loyd could face the death penalty, if convicted.

He is next due in court next month.
