Suspected burglar shot in struggle over his gun at Orlando home, cops say

Man taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injury

ORLANDO, Fla. – A suspected burglar was shot early Thursday during a struggle over his gun at an Orange County home, deputies said.

The shooting was reported at 12:10 a.m. in the 6100 block of Edgebrook Drive in the Southwood Subdivision.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to a home for a report of an armed burglary.

According to deputies, the victims said two men whom they knew showed up at their house and confronted them about a previous incident.

During an argument and fight, one of the residents spotted a handgun in the waistband of one of the culprits, deputies said. During their struggle for the gun, it fired, wounding the culprit, deputies said.

Orange County Fire Rescue took the wounded man to a hospital. He was in stable condition with a non-life-threatening injury, deputies said.

Orange County sheriff’s detectives continue to investigate.
