Out dancing with friends when killed at Pulse

Anthony Luis Laureano Disla, 25, was often posting pictures in a top hat and white suspenders with his dance group.

A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Laureano Disla, was born on Oct. 13, 1990.

After studying at Universidad Del Sagrado Corazon Heart in Santurce, Laureano Disla moved to Orlando to pursue his dream of becoming a choreographer.

A dancer since he was 10, the 25-year-old spent his spare time as a drag performer under the name Alanis Laurell. On a separate Facebook page for Alanis Laurell he posted pictures of his drag persona in beautiful sparkling gowns and blonde Farrah Fawcett-inspired wigs. Laurell was a well-known performer at Parliament House.

Laureano Disla was dancing with friends on the night of the Pulse nightclub shooting,  the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Since her son’s death Olga Disla has been advocating for stronger gun sale laws and equality.

“We all have the responsibility not to allow something like this happen again,” she wrote on Facebook almost a year after her son was killed.

Disla wrote that it was inspiring to see the many people that cared for her son who would have turned 26 in October.

“I remember the wonderful moments spent with my son, his love shown towards me,” Olga Disla said on Facebook in January.  “It fill me in such a way that motivates me to continue standing by following their example of perseverance and positivity.

Laureano Disla is survived by his parents; brother, Marcos Miguel Laureano Disla, and many other family members and friends, according to his official obituary.

Laureano Disla was buried June 17 at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando.
