6 people arrested in Sumter County drug bust

Charges range from trafficking to maintaining a drug shop

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – Six people are behind bars after a Sumter County drug bust early Wednesday morning, officials with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies were serving a warrant to a home where they said a man was barricaded inside a storage shed.

Once deputies were inside the shed, Terry Leonard resisted arrest, deputies said. On the property, another shed was discovered with a man and woman inside, according to deputies. The second man, Jeffrey Leonard, was arrested.

Deputies said they discovered 125 oxycodone pills, 57 hydrocodone pills, 3 hydromorphone pills, 2.94 pounds of marijuana and 11 grams of methamphetamines.

John Leonard, Terry Leonard, Jeffrey Leonard, John Beach, Debra Hunt and Jessie Judge all face charges, including possession of methamphetamine. John Leonard faces charges of trafficking oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine and maintaining a drug shop.
