Man accused of burglarizing home in Orange County, selling items on OfferUp, deputies say

Jose Omar Tavarez-Arvelo, 28, faces several charges

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man accused in a string of Orange County home burglaries has been arrested, officials with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies arrested 28-year-old Jose Omar Tavarez-Arvelo on Thursday. Tavarez-Arvelo is accused of robbing a home on Balsam Drive on Sept. 25 while the victim was not home.

Tavarez-Arvelo is accused of taking Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS XL and Playstation 4, as well as the victim's debit card. The victim told police that her stolen items were on the website OfferUp to be sold. She also said about $500 worth of jewelry was also stolen.

Deputies said they set up an operation to buy an item from OfferUp that Tavarez-Arvelo was selling.

He is charged with burglary of a dwelling, third-degree grand theft, criminal mischief, dealing with stolen property, attempted dealing in stolen property, fraudulent sue of credit cards and unlawful possession.
