'I killed my daughter, failed to kill myself,' Lady Lake father tells deputies

Jeremy Main, 38, denied bond, set to appear in court Nov. 6

LADY LAKE, Fla. – The Lady Lake father accused of drowning his 18-month-old daughter has been denied bond after he appeared in front of a judge on Tuesday morning.

Jeremy Main, 38, was taken into custody on Monday after Lake County sheriff's deputies said the toddler's mother called 911 at 9:30 a.m. saying her husband had killed their 18-month-old daughter McKenzie.

The mother told police that Main told her "he killed their baby due to the complainant divorcing him, the report said.

When officials arrived at the Lady Lake home off  39730 Redbud Road and forced their way into the home, they found the toddler dead in the bathtub and no sign of Main.

Main drove himself to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Village's Annex to turn himself in.

"I killed my daughter and failed to kill myself," Main told employees.

Main admitted that he had killed his daughter and told officials he made a "big mistake," the report said.

The report also stated that main had self-inflicted cuts to his wrists and he told officials that he tried to kill himself.

While speaking with deputies, he told them that he and his wife had marital problems and they were in the process of getting a divorce.

Deputies said the toddler was previously 17-months-old months old.

Main is charged with first-degree murder and will appear before a judge on Nov. 6.
