Body found in Brevard pond identified as Palm Bay man Johnny Lee Francis drove into pond in Whispering Winds, police say No description found
WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. – Police identified a 20-year-old Palm Bay man as the person who was found dead Wednesday in a retention pond.
West Melbourne police said Johnny Lee Francis drove into the pond in the Whispering Winds subdivision, west of Dairy Road. The pond is in the middle of Soft Breeze Circle, News 6 partner Florida Today reported.
A resident noticed Francis' body floating in the water Wednesday morning. Police said Francis and the car may have been in the pond a few days before the discovery.
A wrecker pulled a red Nissan Sentra that was reported stolen in Palm Bay from the water, police said.
Police said an autopsy was being performed.
