FHP: One woman dies after crash on I-75 northbound in Sumter County Woman walked into the road, troopers say
SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A pedestrian died after a Friday night crash on Interstate 75 northbound in Sumter County.
Officials from the Florida Highway Patrol said Loretta Shephard, 74, traveled into the path of a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck around 9:30 p.m. Troopers said Shephard died at the scene after being struck.
Traffic was backed up to the Florida Turnpike, according to officials. It has since been cleared.
