ORLANDO, Fla. – A man who runs an online ministry and refers to himself as a "prophet" faces allegations he sexually battered a child over the course of several years.
According to his arrest report, Lauro Adame, 50, was arrested by Orange County Sheriff's deputies Thursday morning. He told investigators he runs Prophet Adame Ministries.
According to the church's website, Adame claims he has ministered in South America, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean Islands. He's also authored several books on spirituality.
According to his arrest report, the mother of the child confronted him about the allegations in September 2017.
The mother said he told her, "I'm going to turn myself in tomorrow morning with my lawyer. I'm a dirty man."
Deputies said he never turned himself in.
In fact, according to investigative records, deputies tried to locate Adame at least three times over the course of several months. Each time, the deputies said he wouldn't return their phone calls, and he wouldn't answer his front door.
That changed Thursday when deputies arrested Adame at the Orange County Sheriff's Office. He's charged with sexual battery on a child under 12, three counts of lewd and lascivious molestation and one count of sexual activity with a child.
He's being held at the Orange County Jail with no bond.
