Woman attacked while holding door open, Orlando police say

Police want public's help identifying robber

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police are looking for the man accused of attacking a woman at a Citgo store on Pershing Avenue and stealing her wallet.

Liz Madera and Mario Medina, who live in the area, say they're surprised it happened.

"It's very rare in this area to hear stuff like this," Madera said.  "It's very secure, basically. The police station is down there. The police are always around."

According to the report, it happened Dec. 2 at 4:45 pm.  Police said the robber was initially in the backseat of a Nissan that was parked at the pump. In the surveillance video, he can be seen walking toward the store.

As the victim is leaving the store, she holds the door open for him. That's when he knocked the wallet from her hand, grabs it from the ground, hits the woman in the head and takes off running, according to authorities.

"That's sad," Madera said. "I hope they catch him."

In one surveillance picture,  the man can be seen with an item in each hand. Police believe he has the wallet in one hand and his cellphone in the other. He dropped his phone in the parking lot as he was running away, according to police.

If you have any information about the suspect, you're asked to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
