MELBOURNE, Fla. – Melbourne police said three people were wounded New Year's Day during a domestic incident that neighbors described as a revenge shooting.
Authorities were called to 3243 Woodsmill Drive after receiving reports of a disturbance. When police arrived, they said they found three shooting victims, according to officials.
A neighbor said he thought he was hearing fireworks, until moments later when a victim showed up at his door step.
"He's ringing the doorbell. He says he's been shot. He’s holding his hip and he said, 'Call 911,'” Phil McMahon said.
The victims received medical attention and were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Neighbors said William Stillwell, 39, showed up to seek revenge on his wife, who recently moved into the house with her parents and two children.
"She'd been having some issues with her husband and she was staying at her mother's house. He showed up with a gun and he started shooting everybody,” McMahon said.
The home was surrounded and Stillwell surrendered to officers, police said.
"The involved parties appear to share domestic relations and have all been accounted for," Lt. Shawn Eising said in a news release.
Stillwell faces charges of attempted murder, armed burglary, use of a firearm and child abuse. He’s being held without bond at the Brevard County Jail.
