Driver, 82, crashes into Chinese restaurant

No one injured, FHP confirms

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An 82-year-old driver crashed into the dining area of a Chinese restaurant Tuesday afternoon, according to Orange County Fire Rescue officials.

The crash was reported around 2 p.m. at 2767 N. Hiawassee Road.

Authorities said the driver was not injured, nor were the four employees who were inside Dragon City at the time of the crash.

Guerland Ervilus, who was headed to the laundromat at the time, said she heard a loud noise.

"I was shook and then I heard a big boom," Ervilus said.

Security footage shows that the silver sedan went through the front windows and the dining area before coming to a rest near the order counter.

Jim Martinez was at the scene and identified his mother as the driver who mistook the gas pedal for the brake while trying to park.

“I was in disbelief," Martinez said. "(There were) helicopters flying around and I see this, and I’m like, is (this) for my mom? I was like, wow -- still in disbelief."

The Florida Highway Patrol recommended a driver’s license re-examination for the driver.
