PALM BAY, Fla. – An Amber Alert has been canceled for a missing Melbourne girl, who was found safe in South Carolina, police said.
The Palm Bay Police Department said Thursday that Sophia Diaz, 15, was located at an RV park in Fair Play, South Carolina.
"(She's) safe in police custody," Palm Bay police tweeted.
Karis Diaz and Curtis Clemons were arrested on felony charges of interference with child custody.
"Detectives from the Special Victims Unit worked throughout the night following investigative leads and working with FDLE and FBI to locate the victim," Palm Bay police said in a news release. "Detectives contacted the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, who responded to the RV park and located the victim and suspects. The suspect will be extradited back to Brevard County to appear in court."
Officials said earlier in the day that Sophia had last been seen in Melbourne and was abducted by a parent.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued an Amber Alert, with photos of Sophia and the suspects.
No other details have been released.
