13-year-old seriously injured in shooting at Titusville home

Bryan Gabriel Kelly arrested in accidental shooting

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A 13-year-old boy was accidentally shot and seriously injured Wednesday night at a home in Titusville, leading to the arrest of a man, police said.

Police said the shooting happened around 7 p.m. at a home on Yorkshire Drive, about a half-mile south of State Road 406 and 2 miles east of Interstate 95.

Investigators said the teenager was shot in the torso area and suffered serious injuries. The boy was airlifted to a hospital, where he was in stable condition, according to police.

Officers said a preliminary investigation shows Bryan Gabriel Kelly, 40, of Titusville, was in his home attempting to unload a handgun, which unintentionally discharged, and the boy was struck.

Investigators said officers found no evidence of a willful or intentional act.

Kelly was taken to the Brevard County Jail on charges of aggravated child neglect with great bodily harm.

Kelly is being held on a $15,000 bond, according to online records.
