Deputies call shooting 'isolated incident'

UPDATE: The shooting has been ruled a murder-suicide, according to deputies. Read more here.

Two people were killed after a shooting was reported outside a Bank of America in Kissimmee, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the shooting happened at 2000 E. Osceola Parkway around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Major Jacob Ruiz, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office public information officer, said deputies found two people dead in a parking lot when they arrived to the Ventura Downs shopping center.

It's unclear if the two people involved knew each other.

"We don't know that yet. Obviously, that's going to be important for the detectives involved to determine and, if that's the case, to establish that relationship or whatever relationship it was and learn from this incident why it occurred," Ruiz said.

The names, ages and genders of the two victims were not released.

Ruiz said the investigation is in its early stages. Deputies are working to locate any surveillance video from nearby businesses and interview witnesses who might have seen or heard the shooting.

"It'll be an extensive scene, we'll be here, probably, all night," Ruiz said.

A photo from the Ventura Downs shopping center showed crime scene tape surrounding a large swath of the bank's parking lot.

Tyler Tyrell said he had just finished exercising at the LA Fitness and was having dinner at a nearby KFC when he heard multiple gunshots. He said it sounded like fireworks.

"We heard the pops inside and everyone inside was confused, like, 'What's going on?'" Tyrell said.

When he went outside and saw all the patrol cars, he initially thought there had been a bank robbery.

"It's definitely crazy," Tyrell said.

Ruiz is asking anyone with additional information about the shooting to call the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at 407-348-2222.
