‘Florida Jews’ fliers placed on UCF’s campus

Police investigating

University of Central Florida police are investigating after fliers claiming that “Florida Jews” are attacking campus free speech were placed around the school.

A university employee first noticed the fliers the morning of Nov. 1 near the Technology Commons building on Pegasus Drive. Security video showed a man wearing a winter coat and hat placing the flyers Halloween night, according to an incident report.

Records from UCF police show the flier criticizes Florida House Bill 741, which creates a definition for antisemitism and requires public education institutions to consider antisemitism under certain instances of discrimination.

The flier claims the bill is “designed to restrict legitimate criticism of Israel" and “attacks the First Amendment.”

While officers are investigating, they said it’s unlikely that a crime occurred.
