911 call released in Rockledge murder-suicide

'I just shot and killed my wife'

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – Detectives are still investigating the murder-suicide involving a 66-year-old woman and her 82-year-old husband in unincorporated Brevard County near Rockledge Tuesday.

Brevard County Sheriff's Office identified the couple as Harry Marshall Morley Jr. and Maureen Bridge Morley. On Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office also released parts of the 911 call the husband made after firing the first shot, News 6 partner Florida Today reported.

"Good afternoon. I just shot and killed my wife," he told the dispatcher at 6:25 p.m. "Did you hear what I said? She's deceased. I just shot and killed her."

The dispatcher took the man's address and attempted to ascertain where Morley Jr. was keeping his gun. 

When, deputies went to the Morley home on McIver Lane, Morley Jr. briefly appeared at the door before walking away, BCSO said.

Deputies then heard a gunshot. They entered the home to find both the man and his wife dead.

In the portion of the 911 call released, Morley Jr. did not give a reason why he shot his wife or indicate that he was preparing to shoot himself.
