The crash was reported at 4:55 p.m. on Sand Lake Road at John Young Parkway. A preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles were driving in opposite directions turning left at a green turn light. The car failed to make the turn and collided with the bus, troopers said.

No students were aboard the bus, the FHP said.

A trooper said Massengale was unconscious and had a needle in his hand. Drugs that tested positive for opiates were found in his car, the FHP said.

First responders used Narcan to revive him, the FHP said.

Massengale was interviewed at a hospital and said he did not remember anything about the crash.

He was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
