PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A Hillsborough County assistant state attorney arrested this week is accused of transmitting and possessing child pornography, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
William Andrew Jones, 32, of St. Petersburg, was arrested Wednesday after detectives interviewed him and he allegedly admitted to viewing and transmitting such files, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Pinellas County detectives began investigating Jones in July 2024 after being tipped off that files depicting girls between 6 and 10 years old engaging in sexual acts were being accessed and shared via the internet, the release states, adding detectives at some point identified Jones as the suspect.
Jones was arrested via warrant to face three counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of transmission of child pornography and two counts of transmission of material harmful to a minor, the sheriff’s office said. He was employed by the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office in 2021 as an assistant state attorney within the Felony Bureau, Trial Division E, according to the news release.
