Detectives nab Orlando man after burglary spree across South Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando man was arrested last week after a months-long investigation into a burglary spree across South Florida, according to the Stuart Police Department.

In a release, police said that the man — identified as Albert Velazquez — had been arrested in the middle of one such burglary back in January.

“At the time of his arrest, Velazquez was already the subject of an extensive, ongoing investigation,” the release reads. “Prior to his January arrest, Stuart Police Detectives had identified Velazquez as a suspect in a series of burglaries spanning multiple jurisdictions across the state.”

According to detectives, the investigation linked Velazquez to burglaries in Broward County, Delray Beach, Hillsborough County, Manatee County, Palm Beach County and Palm Beach Gardens.

As a result of the investigation, Velazquez was arrested again on Friday, June 13, in Orlando and faces the following charges:

  • Burglary of a structure — 7 counts
  • Burglary of a conveyance — 5 counts
  • Fraudulent use of personal identification information — 31 counts

Police said that Velazquez is being held on bond of $430,000, and additional charges are possible.
