BOCA GRANDE, Fla. – A 9-year-old girl who survived a shark bite off Florida’s Gulf coast recounted the attack on Thursday.
Leah Lendel was seriously injured last week at Boca Grande.
“I didn’t see anything, I was just snorkeling, then I went up to breathe and then something hard bit me and then tried to take me away. Then I pick up my hand and it’s all in blood,” she said.
Leah was rushed to Tampa General Hospital after the shark nearly severed her hand.
“I could see her hand hanging,” Leah’s mother told police, as seen on body-worn camera video released last week.

Doctors said that Leah’s injuries were extreme, but her recovery is promising.
Despite it all, she says she’s not afraid to get back in the water.
