National seafood chain Joe's Crab Shack is the first major chain to eliminate tipping at 18 of its restaurants across the country, according to CBS

Servers, hosts and bartenders will now be paid a higher fixed living wage. Employees who were previously paid $2 an hour will now be paid at least $12 an hour, according to the Huffington Post. Experienced staff could make more.

"We are confident that this change will provide increased financial stability for our employees. Tipping is outdated and this will level out the competitive waiting culture," Joe's Crab Shack CEO Ray Blanchette said.

Because of increased wages for employees, customers will see an increase in menu prices, Blanchette said.
