The Sheriff's Office said it received a call from Hutchinson's sister in Tampa about 10 minutes after they arrived at the scene. She told them Hutchinson had called her, told her he had stabbed someone and was planning to take his own life.
That is when the Sheriff's Office said Ormond Beach police officers canvassed the area and found Hutchinson in his work truck parked at a motel close to the crime scene.
Hutchinson appeared to have blood on his shoes and jacket, according to authorities, and he was taken into custody at gunpoint.
It was at this time several men who walked up to the area were detained. One of them was Randy Bartle, the Sheriff's Office said.
According to deputies, the victim, Kizon Brown, 29, was found by a bystander at Ultimate Motorcycle Seats on Destination Daytona Lane suffering from stab wounds.
Although he was transported to the a hospital in critical condition, authorities said he was conscious and told them he and his girlfriend met the suspects Friday night while at a bar in Daytona Beach.
He told authorities, he and his girlfriend were looking for a place to spend the night and the two men offered to let them stay over in their motel room in Ormond Beach.
Brown told authorities that the next morning, Hutchinson and Bartle told him to go to the store with them.
They drove a while and then Brown said they pulled off behind Ultimate Motorcycle Seats. Hutchinson and Bartle dragged him out of the truck and started kicking him. The Sheriff's Office said Brown told authorities Bartle then stabbed him several times in the back and once in the arm while he was on the ground.
After the stabbing, Brown told authorities, Hutchinson and Bartle got in the truck, drove towards him, hitting his chest and nearly running him over and then drove off, thinking he was either dead or going to die.
The Sheriff's Office said Brown's girlfriend told authorities she and her boyfriend were drinking and doing drugs with Hutchinson and Bartle Friday night, when she engaged in a sex act with Bartle.
She told authorities, that Bartle complained of how Brown treated her and made threats against him. She said the next morning, all three men left together. However, only Hutchinson and Bartle returned.
She told authorities she overhead them talking about the stabbing and noticed blood on their hands and clothes. She told deputies, one of them then threatened her if she said anything.
The Sheriff's Office said Hutchinson refused to give a statement and Bartle said his recollection of the events were hazy due to drugs and alcohol.
Hutchinson and Bartle are being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond.
