Woman found dead at South OBT hotel, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was found dead, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office responded at 11:12 a.m. to a call in the 8700 block of South Orange Blossom Trail at the Econo Lodge near the Florida Mall.

When deputies and Orange County Fire Rescue personnel arrived, the woman was pronounced dead, the Sheriff's Office said, adding that detectives report that this is a homicide investigation.

The woman was later identified as Amber Carruthers, 32, of Oregon.

Deputies said the investigation was ongoing. No other details were available.
