Orlando police say no shots fired at Metrowest area Walmart

ORLANDO, Fla. – A suspicious incident investigated by Orlando police Thursday at a Walmart in southwest Orlando turned out to be a false alarm.

The incident was reported just after 4 p.m. at the store at 2500 South Kirkman Road, according to Orlando police.

Police said the incident started after a man lost sight of his young child and yelled out for her, possibly causing confusion. Another person yelled that someone was shooting and several people ran outside the store, police said.

There were never any shots fired, police said.

Police cleared the store and did not find any suspects or victims. Witnesses and employees told police they never heard gunshots or saw anyone with a firearm.

The store was back open within an hour.

Sky 6 aerial video showed a large law enforcement presence at the Walmart.
