‘Cold-bloodedly’: Sanford police make arrests days after teen shot to death at apartment complex

Jackie Irving and Princeton Postell face charges of first-degree homicide

SANFORD, Fla. – Two suspects have been arrested after a teen was shot and killed Sunday at a Sanford apartment complex, police announced on Wednesday.

Sanford police said 16-year-old Jamarcus Parker died in the shooting, which happened around 5:45 p.m. at the Stratford Point Apartments at 1700 Old England Loop.

In a release, investigators said that Parker and a group of friends appeared to be hanging out in the apartment complex’s parking lot when two people came and began shooting.

On Wednesday, police said that they arrested Jackie Irving, Jr., 18, after he turned himself in with the help of his family.

“After watching the video that captured this heinous act, the suspects’ blatant disregard for the lives of so many people is astounding,” Police Chief Cecil Smith said. “They cold-bloodedly approached a crowd of teenagers and opened fire. As if this isn’t appalling enough, watching the young children on bicycles and throwing a football on a Sunday run for their lives as the shooters gunned down a 16-year-old leaves me speechless and ignites a fire in me.”

Approximately an hour later, police announced that the second suspect had been taken into custody: 17-year-old Princeton Postell.

Both Irving and Postell face charges of first-degree homicide.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact Sanford police or Crimeline at 800-423-8477. Crimeline tips can be made anonymously, and tips that help detectives sold homicides are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
