Law enforcement gathers at The Villages over report of ‘barricaded subject’

Investigators responded near NE 108th Circle and NE 89th Drive

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – There was a large gathering of law enforcement in The Villages due to reports of a “barricaded subject” on Thursday afternoon, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said that law enforcement agents were responding to the area of NE 108th Circle and NE 89th Drive due to reports about the barricade.

Residents were urged to avoid the area, though deputies later announced that the incident had been resolved.

According to investigators, deputies had tried to serve a warrant, though they believed the subject was barricaded. However, the subject was not found at the scene, investigators added.

“No arrest was made, no public safety concerns exist,” the sheriff’s office announced.
