Reward increases again for arrest of accused Paddock Mall shooter (Ocala Police Department)

OCALA, Fla. – A reward of up to $15,000 is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of Albert Shell Jr., 39, who’s accused of killing a man and injuring a woman in a shooting at the Paddock Mall in Ocala over the weekend.

The shooting on Dec. 23 killed David Nathaniel Barron, 40, and caused panic at the shopping center just days before Christmas. The mall was evacuated and closed, reopening for the first time on Tuesday as the search for Albert Shell Jr. was already underway.

As the reward amount jumped from $3,000 to $5,000 to $10,000 in the days since, News 6 learned more about Shell’s past, securing records that reveal why he’s known to police.

We found more than 10 cases in which Shell was found guilty of misdemeanors or felonies dating back to 2002, as well as a case still open in which he’s accused of battery against his girlfriend.
