Authorities in central Florida have issued an arrest warrant for a 39-year-old man accused of fatally shooting another man at a shopping mall two days before Christmas in which police say the victim was โtargetedโ for the attack.
Marion County nearly doubles COVID-19 vaccine appointments at Paddock Mall
MARION COUNTY, Fla. โ The Florida Department of Health in Marion County is increasing the amount of coronavirus vaccination appointments at the Paddock Mall, nearly doubling the number from the previous week. This week, 6,597 vaccination appointments have been scheduled compared to 3,508 last week. AdAppointments are required and residents can pre-register using the statewide vaccination appointment website, https://myvaccine.fl.gov. Those who already pre-registered through the county health department donโt need to sign up on the statewide website. Paddock Mall in Ocala opens as new COVID-19 vaccination site
OCALA, Fla. โ AdventHealth Ocala leased two storefronts and a main area at the Paddock Mall in Ocala to expedite coronavirus vaccinations and make it more convenient for seniors in Marion County. โIโm excited that Iโll be protected and maybe be around people again.โSherry Prowdly and her husband, Tom Prowdly, said the Paddock Mall vaccination site was convenient and quick. So far, the countyโs health department said a little more than 17,000 people in Marion County have been vaccinated. The countyโs health department said it receives about 3,000 doses a week. The countyโs health department said it will continue to use the mall as a vaccination site when the eligibility requirements are extended to the public.
Department of Health in Marion County moving vaccine operations to Paddock Mall
The Department of Health in Marion County is moving its COVID-19 vaccination operations to Paddock Mall, located at 3100 Southwest College Road in Ocal, beginning on Tuesday. The site, a joint venture with AdventHealth Ocala, Marion County Emergency Management, and Paddock Mall, will be available for vaccinations by appointment only. The site at Paddock Mall will be a walk-up operation instead of a drive-through operation that other vaccination sites have used. People with vaccination appointments will park at the Paddock Mall entrance nearest the Belk department store entrance on Southwest College Road. The Paddock Mall vaccination site is currently scheduled to be open for appointments each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
No shooting reported at Paddock Mall in Ocala, police say
OCALA, Fla. The Ocala Police Department posted on its Facebook Tuesday to let residents know that despite the rumors, there was no shooting at Paddock Mall. Police said a call came in around 12:20 p.m. about a man threatening to shoot a security guard after he was caught attempting to shoplift from multiple stores. The man fled the mall property but was located nearby and at that point, officers said they determined that he didnt have a gun. When 911 was called and someone reported that the person threatened to shoot it automatically codes the call as a shooting whether or not there was actually shots fired. Police clarified that shots were never fired and a weapon was never displayed.
