Walmart in Ocala cleared by bomb squad after threat prompted evacuation, police say

OCALA, Fla. – A Walmart Supercenter in Ocala was evacuated Sunday afternoon due to a bomb threat and later cleared, according to police.

The Ocala Police Department said at 1:23 p.m. on social media it had responded to the store at 4980 E. Silver Springs Blvd., reporting a significant presence of first responders there. By around 2:45 p.m., the post had been updated to state the Walmart was cleared by a bomb squad with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

No bomb was found and no injuries were reported, according to police.

Detectives are still investigating.
