During a speech in Miramar Beach on Tuesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis handed out the 4,000th bonus check to a deputy from the Bay County Sheriff’s Department at the Florida Sheriff’s Association Conference.
DeSantis said the state has given out 4,000 bonuses at “various levels of government” since legislation was passed into law.
In April 2022, DeSantis signed HB-3 into law with the goal of making the state more attractive and accessible for people considering to pursue or continue a career in law enforcement.
“I’m sure we’ll knock out another 4,000 here over the next year or so,” DeSantis said.
