Person rescued after falling down steep embankment

PALM BAY, Fla. – A person had to be rescued Thursday afternoon after falling down a drainage culvert, according to Palm Bay Fire Rescue.

Firefighters were called just after 4 p.m. after getting a 911 call from the person who had fallen in an area along U.S. 1.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the person had injured themselves and could not climb back up the steep embankment.

A Technical Rescue Team was called out to help stabilize the person’s injuries and lift them to safety.

The patient was then taken to a local trauma center for further evaluation, firefighters said.

They have not been identified.
