Motorcyclist sought after 1 shot in apparent road rage attack in Orlando

Shooting reported near Lake Underhill Road, Mercado Avenue

ORLANDO, Fla. – One person was shot and injured in an apparent road rage incident Thursday night in Orlando, police said.

The Orlando Police Department told News 6 that the shooting happened around 9 p.m. near Lake Underhill Road and Mercado Avenue.

During the incident, a motorcyclist pulled up to a car and shot the victim in the arm before driving away, police said.

According to investigators, the shooting could have been fueled by road rage.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Video from the scene showed a tow truck removing a black Volkswagen.

News 6 spoke to Blanca Porter who works at Greenway Nursery less than a block away from where Thursday’s shooting took place. She said she was scared when she first heard about the shooting because it was so close to where she lives and works.

“You don’t know when you’re leaving your house if you’re going to come home or not because this street, especially Lake Underhill, is getting very dangerous at night,” Porter said.

Porter said she would like to see more police presence in the area.

“They need to be protecting more on this street because it’s getting very dangerous,” Porter said.

Details about the suspected shooter, who was on a red motorcycle, are not known.
