Ramirez was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Lake County Schools said Ramirez was a teacher assistant in the district.

“We were deeply saddened to hear of this tragedy. Ms. Ramirez was a teacher assistant at Sorrento Elementary. She joined Lake County Schools in 2019. We have grief counselors on campus for any student or staff member who needs their services,” the district said in a statement.

A Central Florida Fair volunteer told News 6 that he was about to leave when he overheard police saying someone had just been shot.

He explained that he then ran to his car to grab a medical kit. Years ago, he completed combat medical casualty care training, so he was willing and able to help Ramirez.

“It’s a tragedy,” he said. “All she was doing was just going there to have a good time and ended up getting shot for it.”

According to the release, police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for “information leading to an arrest or substantial assistance pertaining to the crime.”
